The power of collective action

Affinity groups create belonging, safety and connection through shared identities and goals. Inspired by the accomplishments of a variety of women’s and female-identifying groups over the years, our team here at Adventure Crew wanted to create a way for women with diverse lived experiences to come together around their shared love of the outdoors and a desire to catalyze their collective power to build equity for those historically excluded from nature, outdoor recreation and environmental careers.

Welcome to the RAD Women’s Collective (Raising  Access & Diversity in the Outdoors)!

Part new outdoors community, part giving circle, RAD isn't just for adventure sport enthusiasts; it's for all women who love nature and want to make Outdoors for All a reality in our city. In true collective spirit, RAD’s future is intended to be shaped by what members want it to be. We can imagine group outings, educational opportunities, skill-building workshops and social events will be part of the annual lineup.

The RAD Women’s Collective is also founded in the power of collective giving, where members contribute to the RAD fund (a donate-what-you-can model), with a suggested giving level of $10 a month and sponsorships available for those who would be burdened with any amount of financial gift. The money raised will directly support new equity initiatives for city teens experiencing systemic barriers to accessing the outdoors, and RAD members will choose the specific project that their combined giving will activate each year.

We'll have two info sessions in April so you can learn more, and please share with your nature-loving BFFs. If you can’t make one of these but would like to know more, reach out to me anytime at libby@adventurecrew.org

Onward, wild women!
