Meet the Crew: Paula Nyika-Makore, board
Adventure Crew is excited to welcome Paula Nyika-Makore as a new board member!
"Growing up in Zimbabwe, the outdoors was part of daily life — whether gardening, fishing or tending to livestock as part of agricultural sciences in boarding school," Paula said. "As an adult, I’ve become an avid runner and love traveling the world to hike new trails."
Considering her passion for the outdoors, alongside her dedication to volunteering and to supporting and mentoring young people, it's no surprise that Adventure Crew Board President Heather Spanbauer told Paula about our work during one of their morning walks.
"The mission spoke to me right away," Paula said. "I love that Adventure Crew opens doors for youth to explore and build confidence through nature. Since joining, I’ve been inspired by the dedication and energy of every board member I’ve met."
Paula came to the United States to attend Northern Kentucky University. For the past 25 years, she has called Pierce Township home. A sales leader with Humana Inc., her team specializes in helping individuals make the best choices for their Medicare healthcare.
When she's not at work, she cherishes time with her family, which includes two grown children. "I also love cooking, reading (especially historical fiction), and following sports."
And, of course, she can be found outside. "Hiking and running are my favorites — they give me both peace and energy," she said.
Welcome to the Crew, Paula!
