Meet the Crew: Lisa Benzinger, board

Adventure Crew is excited to welcome Lisa Benzinger to its board!

Lisa brings strong skills in accounting and finance, honed at organizations including Deloitte, Chiquita Brands, Xavier University and Depaul Cristo Rey High School, to Adventure Crew.

"I have been in public accounting, internal audit, tax prep, for-profit, nonprofit, and mergers and acquisitions," the Villa Hills resident said. "Accounting is my forte and I hope I can bring some experience that can be useful."

Five years ago, she bought The PLI Group, a cabinet and countertop fabrication company based in Milford, which she runs alongside her husband.

With the youngest of her four sons in his final year of high school, she found herself with more time on her hands and a desire to get involved in and give back to the community. A friend introduced her to Libby Hunter, Adventure Crew's executive director.

"The mission aligns with my interests of youth and the outdoors," Lisa said. "I think it is so good for kids to experience the peacefulness and joy that comes with being active in nature."

Her husband got her into hiking, and they love traveling to hiking destinations.

"Hiking is my favorite activity," she said. "You can hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and you can go in your backyard. All fitness levels and ages can participate. There is so much peace being outside in the woods or mountains."

Her dream is to retire to Sedona, Arizona and hike every day.

In addition to her four sons, Lisa has two stepdaughters. She enjoys any fitness challenge: She has completed three half Ironman races and one Ultramarathon. "I have recently picked up pickleball and love it!" she added.
