A 'Fabulous' evening with Derick Lugo

Adventure Crew’s Raising Access & Diversity (RAD) Women’s Collective hosted the next installment in its speaker series on Friday, April 10. Author and thru-hiker Derick Lugo (trail name: Mr. Fabulous) returned to The Mercantile Library to share both hilarious and heartwarming stories from his time on the Continental Divide Trail. He also signed copies of his new book, "A Fabulous Thru-Hike," which is about the experience.

Derick was last in town in February 2025 to talk about his time on the Appalachian Trail, which was the subject of his first book, “The Unlikely Thru-Hiker.”

While he was in town, Derick joined Adventure Crew teens for their Saturday (April 11) morning hiking and biking adventure at Devou Park. Each teen in attendance got a copy of his book, thanks to a generous donation from Cincy Book Bus! We hope Derick inspires them to plan their own thru-hiking adventures in the future.

Special thanks to our sponsors, North Side Bank & Trust Co. and Cincy Book Bus!

We hope you enjoy these photos from the Friday night talk and Saturday’s Explorer adventure. Thanks to board member Jerry Schulte for the wonderful shots!
